Nativa Rafting has at its head Gerson Nunes, a renowned rafting specialist and great communicator. Considered as a very dedicated coach, Gerson practices rafting, commercially, since 1982, having offered trekking and three and mountain climbing tours.
Today he is solely dedicated to Nativa Rafting, located in one of the most beautiful regions of Brazil, that is, Rio´s mountainous region.
Gerson explains that rafting gets its name from the word “raft”, which gives the sensation of an apparently unstable way of navigation. That´s where the coach comes in, preparing the group (2 to 7 people), synchronizing their corporal movements in order to prevent risky situations that normally may occur.
Rafting is done in rivers with rapids, usually shallow, full of rocks that make the water run faster, small falls and narrow Straits. That´s why rapids are classified based on their degree of difficulty, from 1 to 5 (the most difficult), in ascending order. It is important to note that river rapids can include different classes along its course, which makes a specialist on board, well versed in the rapids, mandatory.
The course lasts an average of 1 to 2 hours, but can take longer, depending on the river and of what was agreed by the group.
Rio de Janeiro´s mountainous region, where Nativa Rafting is located, lies between Casimiro de Abreu and Nova Friburgo, passing by the Sana and Lumiar, tourist spots worth of a visit before dying.
